Solutions Engineer

The Solutions Engineer is accountable for providing support for complex, high performance managed, dedicated server and collocated Hosting products. Duties include direct technical support to Solutions Consultants, direct customer involvement on complex sales opportunities, validation of all sales orders, ongoing enhancement of service and product descriptions, and interfacing with operations and engineer teams to keep up-to-date on all new service capabilities.
Job Accountability/Responsibility:
- Provide and coordinate technical sales support relating to new opportunities.
- Validate configuration options and create documentation detailing solution alternatives.
- Assist sales team on proposal writing and development.
- Review and enhance service descriptions.
- Transfer opportunity details and knowledge to project management team for all new service implementations.
- Provide day to day technical leadership to the sales team.
- Ensure compliance with operations processes and policies.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups across all markets.
- Possess a customer service-oriented approach.
- Participate effectively as an individual contributor within a multifaceted technology environment.
Requirements:
- 5-7 years progressive experience implementing information technology solutions
- A working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and UNIX operating systems
- A working knowledge of Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) technologies
- Strong understanding of network and systems security
- Understanding of IP addressing and subnets, routing protocols, firewalls, and load balancing
- Strong interpersonal skills; must work effectively with associates; team player
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written; must communicate effectively in a professional manner
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, manage priorities, and remain professional at all times
- Strong MS Office skills
- Must project maturity, confidence, and creativity
- Must display a willingness to learn and self initiative
- Keep a positive attitude at all times
- Prior technology sales experience (desired)
