Facilities Technician:
Cary/ Raleigh, NC Data Center
Position requires a bachelor's degree in a related field or a minimum of 3-5 years progressive experience providing electro-mechanical support within a data center environment. A good understanding of electrical, mechanical, and computer control systems is required. Support of off-hour scheduled maintenance activities is required to complete monthly testing and modification to key facilities infrastructure components. Must have excellent planning skills and strong vendor management skills as well as possess good written and verbal communication skills.
Position will be responsible for daily maintenance and planning associated with general facilities upkeep, monthly trending and tracking of key facilities components (floor space, power, cooling), coordination and scheduling of vendor maintenance activities, site preparation, enforcement of cleaning and facilities standards, daily site reviews, and formal monthly audits.
This position receives direction from and reports to the Facilities Manager. This position requires regular guidance with limited supervision.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Cage, Cabinet, and Rack Provisioning
- Coordination and participation in power provisioning
- Updating of PDU schedules
- Cabinet power audits and tracking
- Coordination and oversight of on-site Contractors
- Tracking and resolution of facility issues
- Responding to facility alarms
- Monthly tracking of key facilities statistics
- Monthly archiving of logs
- Conducts scheduled facility maintenance and testing
- Provides weekly status updates on facility projects and any unresolved issues
- Maintains the facility monitoring infrastructure (Foreseer, ALC, etc)
- General facility upkeep
- Monthly facilities maintenance and review of scheduled tasks
- Completes scheduled maintenance activities on CRAC, UPS, ATS, Generator, and other control systems as identified
- Monthly update of data center floor lay out and utilization diagrams.
- Maintain facilities maintenance schedule and coordinate maintenance with maintenance providers.
