Operations Technician I:
Charlotte, NC Data Center
Hosted Solutions is a fast paced environment looking for talented and energetic IT professionals to fill part time positions. We currently have part time 1st,2nd and 3rd shift positions open at our Charlotte Data Center.
The Operations technician I requires base technical skills and capabilities. The ability to organize technical tasks, as well as the ability to develop a detail oriented technical problem solving approach are requirements of this position. Daily responsibilities include: ticket creation, adherence to customer sign-in and authentication procedures, 1st level monitoring and reporting of enterprise applications(backup,patching,etc.),completion of facilities walkthroughs, setup of new servers and hardware, as well as providing remote hands and eyes support (1st level hardware/sofware troubleshooting).
Assignments include technical tasks, cabinet prep, stock handling, racking and building servers to meet specifications, cabling pulling and termination, hardware testing, cleaning, customer support and organizational tasks.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Technical Skills
- General understanding of TCP/IP principles, DNS, user level experience with at least one Operating System and general computer system hardware
- Building servers (Dell,HP,Sun) using approved OS imaging methods. Assist in the installation and racking of new equipment.
- Run, terminate, and testing cabling
- Demonstrate proficiency with applications including, email,IRC,MS Office, etc.
- General understanding of Linux/Unix system administration
- General understanding of Domain Name Service(DNS), Access Control Lists (ACL's) and network protocols (LAN/WAN).
Organizational Skills
- Maintain organization within the build room and stock area
- Maintain cleanliness of stockroom, NOC and data center
- Track, organize, and inventory equipment and spares
- Completion of assigned internal projects
Customer Skills
- Maintain a professional appearance
- Document all client requests and conversations via electronic ticketing system
- Direct customer support via ticket system, email, and phone for all customers
- Conduct customer follow ups to ensure customer support requests have been completed to the customer's satisfaction
Communication Skills
- Provide written shift reports
- Verbal and written communication with Operations staff
- Remote hands and eyes support for data center customers
- Ability to provide exceptional customer service to clients
