Hosted Solutions Selects Overture Networks for Reliable Ethernet Deployment
Data Center and Managed Hosting Solutions Provider Deploys ISG 5000 for Flexible Bandwidth Between Locations
Research Triangle Park, N.C., April 17, 2007 - Overture Networks, a leading developer of converged packet access solutions, today announced that Hosted Solutions, the East Coast's leading data center and managed services provider, has selected its ISG 5000 product for Ethernet service deployments and flexible bandwidth between locations in Raleigh and Charlotte, North Carolina.
Hosted Solutions' high quality data center and managed hosting solutions maintain and protect customers' mission-critical, back-office IT systems and applications, enabling them to reduce operating costs, lower the risk of downtime, focus on core competencies, and achieve their top business objectives. The company operates four SAS 70 Type II certified data centers in Boston MA, Charlotte NC, Raleigh NC, and Cary NC providing best-of-breed data center operations with hardened physical infrastructure, security, and a complete managed services portfolio.
"Due to increased customer demand for replication and disaster recovery solutions, Hosted Solutions has made significant upgrades in network capacity between data centers," said Rich Lee, CEO, Hosted Solutions. "By partnering with Overture Networks and deploying its ISG 5000 appliances, we now have the flexibility to provide clients with a secure, reliable, Ethernet-type topology to transport mission critical data over our high capacity SONET connections."
The ISG 5000 is a converged packet access platform that bridges TDM and packet worlds to deliver flexible, high-speed Ethernet and TDM services over metro backbones. It is optimized for medium to large enterprises, multi-tenant buildings or multiservice aggregation sites such as the central office or wiring center. It can also function as a cost effective aggregation point for any of other members of the ISG family.
Hosted Solutions chose the cost-efficient ISG 5000 for the added flexibility it provides in offering customers bandwidth between its data centers. Connectivity using Ethernet is a natural extension of the data center internal fabric (10/100/1000Mb Ethernet) and allows for simplified LAN, flexibility of IP, and reliability of SONET connections. To meet Hosted Solutions' needs, the ISG 5000 was equipped with OC-12c modules for the WAN and GigE Modules feeding routers.
"With multiple, geographically disperse locations, the ISG 5000 is the ideal solution for Hosted Solutions," noted Chip Redden, vice president of marketing and product management, Overture Networks. "We are excited about this initial rollout and see great potential for expanded deployment to other Hosted Solutions locations in the future."
