"Today's winners are rising stars in their respective organizations — young stalwarts whose talent has made them stand out among their peers," said Business Journal publisher Charlene Grunwaldt. "What unites them all is their track record of excellence and their potential for future success."
Turco joined Hosted Solutions in March 2008 when the company was acquired by private equity firm ABRY Partners for $144 million. Since joining, he has had a substantial impact on the company's operations, redesigning the entire organizational structure and architecting a three-tier centralized operations model. The result has been a dramatic increase in efficiency and service delivery. As a result of Turco's efforts to drive operational performance and excellence, Hosted Solutions recorded record revenues and profits in the fourth quarter of 2008.
Before joining Hosted Solutions, Turco was with Durham-based Motricity serving on the executive team as the Senior Vice President of Operations and Engineering. While at Motricity, Turco restructured all engineering and operations elements to successfully scale the business from $35 million to more than $100 million over a two-year period while standardizing and centralizing critical business elements. Under Turco's leadership, Hosted Solutions is incredibly well positioned to continue to grow and serve as a leader in the markets it serves.
Holbrook has been with Hosted Solutions since day one — back in 2001, when CEO Rich Lee acquired the assets of a then-bankrupt Cary data center operator. In an eight-year period, Holbrook has worn many hats and has played an instrumental role in taking Hosted Solutions from start-up to a market leader with 110 employees operating in Raleigh, Cary, Charlotte and Boston.
Since joining the company, Holbrook closed more than $40 million in revenue for the company. In the last year alone, Holbrook closed $14 million in new business, including a "who's who" of leading businesses in the Triangle such as Aetna, McClatchy Interactive, Pepsi, Cisco, Sony Ericsson, Peopleclick, Capitol Broadcasting Company and iNC Research.
It's an honor to have both Kip and Auburn recognized for this award," said Rich Lee, Hosted Solutions' founder and Chief Executive Officer. "They're both such talented individuals and they've each had a tremendous impact on the business. The fact that we have two employees on this list speaks to the quality of talent that we have within our organization. I'm incredibly proud of both Kip and Auburn and of the strong employee base that we've created."
