The Cavaliers Operating Co. today will announce that it has retained Hosted Solutions to power the NBA team’s official arena Web site.
The North Carolina-based IT provider will support the Q Arena through its Stratus Tested Cloud technology, thus allowing the Cavs to focus their efforts on other parts of the basketball and arena management business, said Hosted Solutions COO Kip Turco. “It allows them to scale on demand without having to manage or procure that infrastructure all year,” he said. “By outsourcing the infrastructure to us, it allows the Cavaliers to focus on their core competency.”
The impetus for the partnership was ticket-driven, said Cavaliers Dir of Web Operations Jeff Lillibridge. The Web site has seen an increase in traffic since becoming the ticket-buying destination for all events at Quicken Loans Arena, following this summer’s launch of ticket sales service Veritix. “This is an event-driven Web site,” Lillibridge said. “We wanted to make sure the site could handle the volume of traffic of people coming in to buy tickets.” Hosted Solutions also currently works with the Falcons and Speedway Motorsports Inc.
